Small Lofts: Remodelling Tiny Open Spaces

Author(s): Oriol Magrinya

Architecture

When we think of a loft, we usually think of large open spaces with clearly visible remnants of their industrial origin, converted into homes. Distinguished by their high level of modernity and noteworthy contrasts, they tend to reflect the personalities of their owners more than any other type of construction. But, what happens when there is limited space? Is it possible to have a loft, with all its characteristics, in a space that measures less than 120 square metres? This book contains dozens of examples of small lofts from all over the world. They demonstrate that, even with severe space limitations, it is possible to achieve, maintain and even enhance the essence of a post-industrial New York loft. Of course, this requires the optimum combination of artistic sensibility and architectural ingenuity. In full colour throughout, with nearly 500 photographs.
