Author Biography: Allan Stratton is the internationally acclaimed author of Chanda's Secrets, winner of over twenty-six awards and citations including the American Library Association's Michael L. Printz Honor Book and the Children's Africana Book Award. The companion novel, Chanda's Wars, won the Canadian Library Association's Best Book for Young Adults Award and was an American Junior Library Guild selection. The film adaptation of Chanda's Secrets, Life, Above All, premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival, 2010, where it won the Francois Chalais Prize. It was South Africa's official entry for the 2011 Oscar for best foreign language film. Allan's other YA and children's novels are Curse of the Dream Witch, winner of the 2014 Canadian Library Association Book of the Year for Children Award; the ALA Best Fiction novels Borderline and Leslie's Journal; and the Governor General's Award nominee, Junior Library Guild selection (USA), and Times of London Book of the Week The Grave Robber's Apprentice.
